Alarm changeover without disturbing the bell

Hi there. If I upgrade an existing alarm, as soon as turn off the power, and then disconnect the battery, the bells going to go off. And if I get a ladder out and take off the bell cover, then I'll get deafend, once to disconnect it, and then a second time to reconnect it.

Is there any other way of handling this situation.

It's an Accenta G4, and I'm upgrading to a bigger case ot tidy up some of the wiring inside.

sparky has the correct way to do it

Removing the battery from the panel first, the 'hold off' 12v supply, to the bell and temporarily connect to the panel battery.

I did wonder about doing it that way. If I remove the D&B wires from the panel, then that'll set the bell off, so I obviously need to feed a wire in through the back, and get the battery connected before I remove the wires. Or is it okay to just remove those wires, and the bell will stay silent till I've got things sorted.

Thanks for the suggestion Bernard, but that's what I'm trying to avoid - as you well know.

Up till now, I've tended to use the Viper shock sensors, but having come across the Texecom Impaq range, it looks as though the one with the door contacts will kill two birds with one stone, but I'll need an 8 core cable rather than 6; am I right on this one.

What do you guys feel about screened cable rather than standard stranded.

And lastly, on the viper GLX, there's a FTL connector, which I assume goes to the SET connector on the panel; but what exactly does it do that's beyond the ordinary setup.
