What happens to my alarm monitoring if my phone line is cut?

If the alarm is triggered it will not alert anyone unless it has an alternative number to ring.

Mod knows, that's why he do be askin'!

AFAICT, if a monitored alarm has a line failure, they will contact the customer on the alternative number and query the problem.

Chrispitt, even though you are in another country what is likely to happen if your phone line is cut is that your monitoring company cannot monitor the alarm.

This obviously causes a problem, so what you need to do is contact your monitoring co and ask them the question - not an internet forum where we do not know what your contract with them says.

Give them an alternative number/mobile etc to contact if the line fails so they can check if everything is OK.

IF your phone line is accessible outside your property you might want to take steps to make it so it cannot easily be cut I.e cover it.

Maybe the OP is a burglar trying to find out what would happen if HE cut a phone line?

TBH the response of the monitoring stations isn't great to know. They would ring you on an alternative number? and if that number isn't answered then what??

I guess they cannot call the police when a phone line is cut because they cannot establish a confirmed alarm and the homeowner even responding to a second number may not be able to go directly to the property or even the keyholders in time to prevent a burglary.
