I have just changed myinterior stop tap for a new 22mm compression stop tap.
The mains pipe is approx 21-21.5mm black alkathene. O.D.
I think it is grade D, heavy duty, because the I.D. is only approx 11-1
2mm. I have used 3/4 olive, which was a perfect fit on the alkathene,
and thereis noleaks, I have seen it mentioned fit asmall piece of 15mm copper as an insert, but there is no chance, as you can see from the I.D.
I just feel a bit uneasy about a lack of insert in the long term.
I would appreciate your views and advice, thanks

After Christmas is over I would suggest you get a class C and D insert just to cover all avenues, then fit the one accordingly

Thanks Slapper,
I took a small offcut of the pipe into a few plumbers merchants,.....nobody had a correct push in fit insert, only a slack little hepworth one, infact one place said that because it was class D (thicker walls/smaller I.D.) It didnt a insert.
So, the question is, where do I find a class C and D insert?
I was thinking of trying Pirteck the hydraulics place, but Im open to all advice and suggestions from anyone.
Thanks.

You don't need an insert on the old thick black alkathene with Philmac 3G fittings, you just use them and tighten the fitting up, that info comes from the Philmac rep and I think it's in their speel somewhere too...
