Alpha cb 50 boiler losing pressure

Just had British Gas replace the Diverter valve / motor and engineer left only 1 hour ago. Boiler now rapidly losing pressure with hot water exiting through the external overflow pipe. Phoned BG but cannot return til Thursday !

Any advice on likely cause / solutions would be welcomed.

I wonder if he used the prv to drain the boiler down

If he did, it has probably got some carp on the seat and sticking open.

Needs a new one in a perfect world if this is the case.

You could try opening and shutting the prv several times quickly to see if this will shift it.

Opened and shut PRV a couple of times and the fast flow from the overflow has reduced to a drip - still not ideal but at least I can manage til engineers return on Thursday

Engineer returned Thursday and volunteered he had used prv to drain down boiler and that there was probably some muck preventing closure !

prv removed and cleaned and everything now working fine
