Hi I'm moving house next week and will finally have my long awaited double garage. I like to work on cars and bikes and was hoping of putting in a 4 post ramp or similar. Although height wise I'd be restricted. Is it possible to tie in the eaves higher up to raise the height of the roof?

The garage is free standing but is the same shape as the one below.

I'm also planning on getting the garage door converted to one double door as opposed to two singles. So I will have an engineer out to look at the centre pillar etc and ill ask him about the roof but thought I'd see if anyone has any tips on here whilst I wait. Thanks

You'll most likely need planning approval, and your engineer needs to be aware of this as it will impact the options available to him

You can strip the roof down and build a few course of brick on your existing
walls, but if you need to take it more than that then as woody says you will need planing permission. Is it a truss roof then you could change it to a cut roof
and gain a bit more head room. Add a few skylights while you at it.

Great thanks for the replys.

As well as a cut roof would it be possible to alter the eaves in situe to a scissor or raised tie truss?
