Am i right to assume that i do not need part p qualifacation to do inspection & testing,

i have rang quit a few training centres up and some say you need it and some say you dont,

all i want to do is the landlords electics inspection as at the mo i do the gas inspection but i want to combine them both.

No need for part P registration but you'll need C&G 2391 to be able to get professional indemnity insurance which is advisable if you're doing testing.

Part P simply requires that electrical installation work in dwellings is carried out safely. It is not concerned with activities that do not alter the installation. However, the knowledge and experience to be considered competent to carry out electrical inspections is far, far above that required to install, test and certify your own work.

The majority of trained electricians are simply not competent to carry out periodic inspections. The fact that you are asking this question merely serves to underline that you have a long, long way to go. Passing the C & G 2391 does not make you a tester, either. For most applicants it's the point where they realise their shortcomings.
