amana washer makes horrifying noise while agitating

washer works great but when agitating it makes an awful squealing noise. have to stop it and wiggle the drum. it stops for a while then starts squealing again... no noise while spinning. what\\\'s wrong anyone can help me please??

Check belt isn't slipping; failing that, sounds like the bearings are going (the faster it spins (centrifugal force) the lighter the load on the bearings get as the water is pumped out would explain why it isn't making this noise when spinning - YET).
