What ho one and all,

Have the opportunity to buy a Gen2 Amazon Dot. I know it is behind the curve but I don't really need (or want) the very latest c**p.)

The only reason to buy it is to hopefully get a better radio reception via the internet than we currently have with a regular FM or DAB radios. For some reason, there are only a few areas of some rooms were we get reasonable reception.

But I have some questions.

When we are not listening to the radio, we just hit the off button. Does one do this with an Dot or does one ask it to turn off?

Presumably, when it is powered up, it is listening to everything, all the time, or not?

If it is turned off at the mains, does it just boot up or does it need to be reset again?

Thanks and toodle pip

Say. Alexa off. Or Alexa shut up. Alexa, louder or Alexa, turn up/down the volume

Don't switch off at mains. Leave on 24/7

Although I guess switchers will turn off like they do everything as can't sleep with any switch on.
No need though. Yes it won't matter if you switch off and on. Just take time to boot up

Many thanks. It is a good price and considerably less expensive that a DAB radio so will give it a go.

Just check that the radio stations you want to listen to are available via 'net radio. Not all have the licences to allow broadcasting that way.

Check from your computer or tablet first.

Think they are as they can be found on the computer. 5 Live and Classic FM.

I use phone radio app free. 1000s of radio stations.

Nobody uses TV to get the radio channels though although has been available for years. Guess it don't seem right having TV on

I do! :)
I swap to the radio, rather than risk the toddler having a tantrum when the telly's turned off!
'FIX IT', followed by flying remote control! :ROFLMAO:

You really need to learn some parenting skills and train your toddler properly!
