My first post on here so hope it gets on to the right bit of the site.

I have no gas, no oil and am relying on electricity for all heating plus a multifuel burner in the lounge. House is 4 bed, 3 receptions - 10 rads in all with immersion for hot water. Central heating currently (no pun intended) comes via a 12kw storage boiler which then pumps hot water to rads when needed. This seems a quite manageable system with control options covering charge and rad temperature control at the boiler itself, and TRVs on the rads although really cold days do exhaust the stored heat by late afternoon/early evening.

Naturally this is all on economy 7 and the house has 3 phase run in as it once had a 120,000v x-ray transformer in it - the previous owner running a chiropractise from the property.

The boiler I think is designed as some sort of industrial heater as I have never come across one like it before but it is now getting a bit long in the tooth.

So my question is - can anyone recommend the most economic possible replacement arrangement for my heating and hot water requirements? There are three adults living at the property so hot water use is rather liberal and the hwt spends a fair time on daytime top up boost.

I was wondering if the amptech system produced hot water on demand (combi-boiler style) and if this was available for water and/or heat. I have read about amptech operating on Ec7 but do not understand how that works in terms of providing heat during the day.

Clearly I am something of a layman here but would appreciate any wise words or advice from anyone who has taken the time to read this.

Thanks, Kim

Go on there web site and you will get all the info you need.

The Amtec comes in various outputs single and three phase, basically its a sealed system hot water boiler you have to buy the other components ie pump expansion vessel and motorised valves.

Because of its low water content it heats up very quick, you would have to install a separate cylinder for the hot water. the cost of the amtecs start about £350 up to £800.
They come with 2 year warrantee and spare are not cheap.

You can also buy electric combi,s

I am doing a little research on electric boilers myself so that I can offer a sane replacement for Gledhill equipment... For your water, I would say fit the biggest unvented that you can fit so that as much hot water as is possible is heated on E7, sadly the amptec equipment will only heat central heating on demand... If you need heating in the daytime, then you will be running on full fat electricity.... The Heatrae Electromax is an unvented cylinder and amptec inline heater built in to one unit but the two systems are separate.... I suppose that you could fit a heat bank but I am yet to find one that I would be happy to put my name to, perhaps one or two of the guys on here may have some reccomendations but I find that heat banks are generally unpopular with most here other than to odd troll who may be along shortly if he hasn't been banned..
