What's all this talk about a spur off a ring only being able to pull 13A? Unfused spurs can pull 26A with a double socket can't they?

An unfused spur can, yes.

However the spurs in question will be Fused Connection Units or FCU's
They have a fuse holder in them and the maximum fuse they will take is 13A, hence the 13A maximum

no. sockets (wether double or single) are only rated at 13A. NOT 26A.

it can, but its not designed to. some sockets can take higher loads, others cant. sockets will be damaged if they are run at 26A (2 items connected at 13A each)

This has been done to death in at least two other threads - search for them.

A ring main outlet whether double, single or spur is only rated at 13A.

Depending upon the installation method and derating factors, a single run of 2.5 may well not have the capacity to carry 26A safely.
