Following on from my last post http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=64061 . It has been suggested that I continue the radial with a min of 4mm cable. However I am having problems sourcing this cable locally the local BnQ does not sell it and nether does Focus. So the next logical size to goto would be 6mm. I do have 6mm cable but how would I get the cable to fit into the back of sockets on a radial?? Help!

Have a look in your yellow pages for a local electrical supplier.

if you use deep boxes and MK sockets you should get 6mm in.

You'll strugglr to get two 6mm cables into a normal socket, but if you do go that way use 35mm deep back boxes.
The best thing to do would be use 4mm cable, you can get it all proper electrical trade counters.

Max Core Sizes for SOs
Clause 11.5 of BS1363-2 states:

"Line and neutral terminals in fixed socket-outlets shall permit the connection, without special preparation, of one, two or three 2.5 mm2 solid or stranded or of one or two 4 mm2 stranded conductors."

But: -
First page of http://www.mkelectric.co.uk/PDF/technical/LOGIC_PLUS_tech.pdf claims

Terminal capacity:
Live, neutral & earth
3 x 2.5mm²
3 x 4mm²
2 x 6mm² (standard)

which is why i said use MK sockets.

british standards provide a minimum specification, high quality manufactures go beyond them.
