Another Filling loop?

I can't find the filling loop in my heating system, and i am sure there is no F&E tank anywhere. Would it cause any problems to fit another filling loop into the heating system?

I assume if there is an automatic top-up gadget of some sort I will be able to hear the water entering the system as I try to drain it.

No. It isn't automatic, and in fact the "loop" should be physically removed to stop boiler water going back into the mains. Perhaps that's why you cant find yours? Look for a coupl of chrome plated connectors near each other.
