Another hate of domestics.

I remember one house, two up, two down, complete refurbish including rewire, electrician phoned up DNO asking what supply told TN-C-S so rewire completed left three cables line neutral and earth for the DNO to connect.

However rest of work on house not complete, so actually connection was a few months latter, by which time electrician had gone through a devoice and now living on a narrow boat, so of no fixed abode, however still had same mobile number so could have rung him. But not at old address.

DNO arrived and connected as TT, there was a cooker to be connected so owner got a different electrician to do this, and he realised no earth, he say how bad the first electrician was leaving a house with no earth, but first electrician was still waiting for a phone call to say we a ready to get connected. In the end he paid a visit to ask when they would be ready to where they had been renting but different people there, so went to house and was met with abuse as he had left house in a dangerous condition.

He was really surprised, did not know they had moved in. And since there was no power last time he was there still had not made out an installation certificate, he decided he would not do domestic again, and never has, not me by the way, but know him well, so sure what he said was true.

As he said had the DNO said it was to be TT or even if they said we don't know until inspected he would have fitted an earth rod. But had some one been injured what would have been his chances to have convinced a court he was told by DNO it would be TN-C-S?

Definitely the dnos fault for energising it, never mind the fact there was an earth cable floating around which they ignored, they can't just energise a random installation without knowing it is complete.
