Hi,

I`m having good success asking questions on here so thankyou for that!

I have a radiator in an extension and when the central heating system has been on for 10-15mins a venting/fluid flow type noise comes from the thermostat. By 'feeling' for which pipe gets hot first I have noticed that the thermostat is on the outlet pipe of the radiator (the other pipe warms up first). Should the thermostat be swopped to the inlet side? and could this be why it makes a noise when trying to regulate the temperature??

Thanks

No modern valves work on either side.

Turn the the other valve (lockshield) off and then open up about 1.5 turns should sort it. It is probably open full.

OK, I`ll try that, thankyou. Is this a good place to start for all the radiator lockshield valves? I just set them all to about 1/2 turn from fully open?

On most LS valves, 1 1/2 turns open is fully open. I have found that a good starting point is 1/2 (yes, half) a turn open. You will probably be able to set the pump to a lower speed - if that is possible. Fine tuning should be done by opening/closing the LS valve by 1/8 turn or less.
