Another newspaper.... hypocrite

It's great to see that the Daily Mail has come round to the idea that rich people and corporations should pay tax just like us common people.

I look forward to the Daily Mail, and its boss Harmsworth, Lord Rothermere, giving up the tax-dodging policy they have followed for generations.

I didn't see it mentioned in their article. When do they propose to start paying tax?

Perhaps the others will follow their lead. Do you have any news on the other media tax dodgers, gasbag?

I congratulate you on your sudden conversion to Labour Party objectives.

Well done.

Are you suggesting that the country will be ruined if billionaire tax dodgers and multinationals are obliged to pay fair taxes?

Like the rest of us common little people?

Why do you think the nation gains by letting them off scot-free?

For example, I don't think this is in the nation's interests. Do you?

"Tories just handed £55m NHS contract to tax haven firm who ‘never paid a penny’ in corp tax

"The Tories have just handed over a huge £55m NHS contract to Care UK - a company who use tax havens and had not paid a penny in corporation tax since it was bought by the private equity firm Bridgepoint Capital in 2010."

"Prior to the coalition government, Care UK chairman John Nash made a contribution of £21,000 to the private office of
Andrew Lansley. After becoming Health Secretary, Lansley brought in the Health and Social Care Act of 2012, which forced the NHS to put health service contracts out to tender on the private market. Nash’s company Care UK took full advantage of this and are now the UK’s largest independent provider of health and social care services. "

"In 2014, Care UK took over services for people with severe learning disabilities in Doncaster, where they promptly cut the wages of previous NHS staff by up to 35%."

"
In 2015, ITV’s Exposure programme highlighted some shocking practices at an urgent care centre run by Care UK at Ealing Hospital. They reported seeing:

  • Pregnant women with ectopic pregnancies waiting 3 hours before being seen by a GP.
  • Empty medicine cabinets, with doctors admitting they frequently ran out of painkillers and antibiotics.
  • Work experience students being left to check on patients because doctors and nurses were too busy.
  • GPs who admitted they couldn’t understand X-rays ‘for s***’ and may miss fractures.
  • Clinics dealing with 50 per cent more patients than they can manage with patients being told to take their own temperature.
It was also alleged that staff registered the discharge of patients before they had been treated to avoid breaching the NHS 4 hour waiting target."

John, may I ask, what is the source of this report?

it's a subscription. I'll see if it's elsewhere.

[No, I'm suggesting the country would be ruined if the Labour Party came to power.]

Like the rest of us common little people? [Whose opinion? Would that change under a Labour government? How?]

Why do you think the nation gains by letting them off scot-free? [Do you think if they paid more tax it would make a blind bit of difference to us "common little people"? How?]

In will take a look. However, I can't bring myself to believe what is printed in the Guardian no more than you would believe the Daily Mail
