In a prevous topic (now closed) a certain poster repeated the same old worn out accusation...

I assume said poster now believes that a highly respected UK governmental committee is guilty of the same 'anti-UK rant'?

Linky

"UK's Saudi weapons sales unlawful, Lords committee find...

Report finds UK arms ‘highly likely to be cause of significant civilian casualties in Yemen’...

It is the first unanimous report from a parliamentary committee describing Saudi arms export sales as unlawful, and comes ahead of an imminent high court appeal by campaigners to block arms sales to Saudi Arabia on the grounds they are in breach of humanitarian law."

The article doesn't quite get you to where you want. "Funny how the UK is complicit in terrorist actions", isn't upheld by an observation that checks are not being made and the government shouldn't be allowing self assessment, so to speak.

Firstly judges decide what is lawful or not. The lords themselves have little say in how a law is to be interpreted or changed to fix a problem found. Secondly, if the self assessment is fixed and the checks throw up an issue, the UK would only be breaking the law if at that point they carried on exporting arms. There are many options in between which allow the lawful continuation.

Spoken like a true appeaser of state terrorism (y)

Have you taken lessons from Mark Regev?

It's not that the OP has legitimate gripes about the powers that be, which to be fair most of us have, it's that the OP comes across as having issues in general with the UK and it's inhabitants, in which case as it's still a free country, you are, if is your wish, free to leave.

There is so much wrong in that short sentence.

Is a complaint about something automatically a rant if you disagree with it?
Is a complaint about something seizing any excuse?
Is a complaint about something "he's off" any more than the majority of drivel written on here?
Is a complaint about something venting hatred?
Is a complaint about something any indication that that supposed hatred applies to all things UK?

Do the people who think this consider the UK to be perfect?
If it is not, does that mean that these people have no idea of reality or they will put up with anything?

Taking this forward then, All arms manufacturers worldwide are complicit in terrorist actions. Explosives manufacturers too must be complicit in terrorist actions. I expect quarry owners too must bear some responsibility for the stoning to death of people in the middle east ?

he has a point , the uk government are helping Saudi attack yemen, with supply of arms, and innocent civilians are being killed including children, so yeh our government is a disgrace.

Blair's government was worse.
In numbers of innocents killed, then certainly...

And as regards Iraq, I still consider him a war criminal for that!

However he also bucked against the sytem and made a hell of a good choice in sierra leone...

Ever heard of the military industrial complex?

War and death equals big bucks...

'Collateral damage' is simply something that the press officers have to gloss over!

Well if Corbyn gets in it will all change

The arms industry in this country will be shut down and thousands put out of work.

A few may whinge but when the morality aspect is explained to them they will understand

Come on EFLI - you don't seriously expect rationality, logic, intelligence, joined-up-thinking etc from Notch, do you?
