Any idea how important this bit of metal is?

Afternoon people. I have a uPVC multi point locking front door with a euro cylinder lock fitted. Occasionally recently it's not been locking/unlocking correctly. I removed the cylinder & looked into where it came out of the door & saw a bit of metal. I've attached 3 photos of it. Cheers Doug
