Found next to some paving slabs under a bush in a garden (not mine).

It’s got inverted dimples in it so was wondering if anyone would be concerned that it’s asbestos cement? Or is it simply a bit of paving slab...?

I'd say it is a cement 'pad' that's been used in the past to bed down those flags.....the imprint is of the flag itself.

It will not bite you, providing you keep it moistened or undisturbed - how thick is it?

Concrete paving slabs have dimples like that. Asbestos sheet will be around 6mm thick, concrete will be much thicker and heavier. If it does turn out to be asbestos, then just double bag it and drop it off at your local tip which handles asbestos.

I thought it looked about an inch thick. No longer near it and can’t access it anymore as not my garden. More of a restrospective question!

Probably a corner of a concrete paving slab, hence the cement remnants on the edges.

It's a broken piece of paving slab and totally harmless.

A bit of paving slab as others have since confirmed.

lifted some slabs a month or so ago and got a bit of a turn as I dug down saw he classic asbestos dimples but it turned out to be half a dozen paving slabs with that texture on the back.
