Any optometrists?

Of 3 pairs, one I couldn't see anything through.
The other two seemed to have the IPD wrong or the cylinder axis (angle) wrong.
They remade the lenses on the hopeless one, and it was about the best, but still not right.

So that's 4/4. Time up, $495 money back. Then they said try the independent down the road, they may use better lenses

The independent is fully booked for months!!
Take a look at googles4u, you have nothing to lose and for £50 you may get a pair that are right ;)

Follow up.
I went to an independent, along the high street.
One receptionist, on the phone. The shop was functional, not flashy.

Couple of minutes later, and she's still on the phone, being terribly polite, desperately trying to get her combatant to STFU.
I go to Settings on my phone and sample on Loud, the Old Fashioned Brring Brring, and mouth to her "Another call".
She uses it to quell the untethered prattler and we have a rapport without a spoken word. I am given the discarded's appointment.

The optician is bright. I like that. Keen and able to creatively expound on my niche queries. He picks up on the desire to understand, so he details each move in the analysis. TFFT.

We compare his prescription with Specsavers'. Close, but the Interpupilliary distance was 5mm different. Through his detailing, I could guess how the SS people had done it sloppily.

SS had returned their £500 for 3 pairs.
He was double that, for two.

But I can see.
