Mrs S went over to Liverpool the other day. Took one route in and used a tunnel, paid at a toll booth. No worries.

Coming home, took a different route. Not aware there was a toll payable, no obvious signs. There were signs saying there was a toll payable, but not how to pay. And then it got forgotten. Got this today. If anyone has used it before have you been caught out?

I had a quick look on Google maps and it appears as though the signage comprises:

1. A sign advising of the toll costs.
2. A sign with advice on how to pay (see below).
3. A sign advising last exit before toll.

The placing of the three signs can be seen in the other image below (2nd and 3rd signs are the blue ones.) It could be argued for drivers not used to the area, they could be past the signs (especially the blue ones) before having a chance to register what it all means, especially if there are larger vehicles blocking view of the signs as the driver passes them. I also suspect it's 'by design' to make the 2nd and 3rd signs increasingly smaller ;)
