Hi all,

I have a recess eithier side of my chimney Id like to put boxes in much like this picture in the dulux mag (theirs is in the chimney itelf) then box over it with plasterboard to create recess box shelves

Question is, how is this made? is it with studwork and premade boxes or some other way??

Im presuming it is either wood or plasterboard boxes - any advice?.. Is this a job for a chippie??[/img]

Just stud it out and platerboard it. The shelf is just like a minnie horizontal partition. Its not so much putting boxes in as dividing teh space into compartments.

Just size the studwork to give the overall thickness you want less twice the plasterboard thickness, you can either skim the lot or do it like drylining and tape & fill the boards

This is the same sort of thing but tiled over to give the 5 recesses

thanks jason... that clarifys almost everything.

one more Q. Can plasterers plaster inside the small box shelfs, as we do want to paint the back and sides of the recesses?

just a logistical Q... is that possible for a plasterer?
