Hi

Currently have HomeCare 200 including annual service and NOT the £50 fee i.e nothing to pay.

Will this cover the replacement of a hot water cylinder?

The cover says:

Central heating repairs (boiler, controls, radiators, pipework, hot water)

Can I have an answer from someone who knows for DEFINITE please :)

Whilst at first sight it should be covered there are two aspects which may influence the situation.

Exactly why it has failed, poor installation, defective product, 3rd party involvement etc.

And the the most important aspect what the attending engineer's attitude is. If you look on this forum there were four pages of discussion which is now locked about BG engineers not covering repairs and finding ways to refuse cover. That makes interesting reading.

If you explain exactly whats wrong with your cylinder and ideally a photo some of the BG engineers may tell you how they would deal with it.

Tony what are you on about?

Yes BG will replace cylinder on homecare 200.

With the primatic cylinder, BG tend to offer an upgrade to an indirect cylinder.

Hi

Thanks for your replies. Its an indirect cylinder & at the moment its fine (touch wood) and it has been since I moved in the house 4 years ago.

The installation is fine. My question was more of IF it went wrong. I am quite capable of changing it myself anyway (done one before and fitted my own bathrooms etc), but its not my day job and I wouldnt like to do it unless I had to - hence the cover..

Its just the wording on the BG policy is a bit woolly to say the least.

So basically its covered for both a leak/split and a pinholed coil on a 200 plan? Already had my monies worth out of the policy this year what with the annual service, changed pump changed thermostat.

thanks for your helps

dextrous????!!!!ure saying ure primatic cyliner leaked and bg wouldnt change it.i cant comment fully cos i dont know the situation but i cant understand why u didnt ask why there not changing it if it states in the agreement that its covered???bg agreements are fairly straight forward,if ure on the full cover then basically everything is covered on your system bar sludge issues, scale, incorrect installation by DODGY contractors and 3rd party interference,3rd party basically means if a plumber goes to fit a rad and he drains down,he then refills and nothing works,he then says i dont know whats wrong with it get bg out,cos he couldnt diagnose a blocked cold feed he then expects bg to unblock when its his problem!!sludge-bg will replace, unblock the sludge issue first time then adv to u u need a powerflush which will solve the future problem, doesnt matter who does it bg or private, any sludge issues after that are then not covered, rant over with
