Hi Trowelmonkey

Hope you dont mind me asking but i noticed on the forum that you are a relative newcomer to plastering and was just wondering what made you get into it and how you got on when you first started out?
Reason i ask is that i do a bit myself to a reasonable standard but lack the speed, experience and confidence to get out there and go for it. Is it just a case of diving in and going for it with jobs you know you can handle and building up to bigger things?

Cheers

Lukas

i would still class myself as a newcomer lukas, only been doing it as a job this year, still got loads to learn and it's a sharp learning curve but find the best and quickest way is to get in at the deep end.

my speed is building, not much has phased me yet, except of course coming up against a big ceiling, so far nothing too big to handle...just!

i think you have to get out there, don't take on anything you know you can't handle and take your time to make sure you do a good job, price yourself appropriately and don't be greedy, don't book jobs back to back so that you have an extra day in your diary after each in case you under estimate the time needed and the rest will come, i'm starting to get work via recommendations now which is really nice.

had a bad couple of days at the 'office' this week though, tested my commitment to the full, due to some evil artex but that's for another post.

Thanks for the reply TM.
I got a couple of ceilings to do next week for a mate, friends and family is pretty much all i do at the moment but think its time to move up a gear.
Appreciate your input and glad its going well for you.

All the best

lukas

best of luck to you lukas, it's not an easy path to walk, i've been tried and tested so far along the way but perseverance is the key.

PM me if you need to ask any more questions!
