I have always had separate wastes for my appliances. I am having a new kitchen installed and everyone is telling me that now days the washing machine/dishwasher/drier are all connected to the sink waste via the tapered spigots and jubilee clips. I had always seen this as a bit of a bodge job but i am being told differently by the installers?

The appliances in each instance are next to the sink so no major distances to travel.

What is the general method used?

Thousands of appliances nationwide drain into spigots perfectly fine but if your having a kitchen refit I'd fit a standpipe with its own exit to the drains.
