As per title really. Approx how much should it cost to remove a single external uPVC door and 2ft x 5ft window and brick up?

Modern property with cavity wall. Bricks to be tied in to existing brick work. Internal block wall. No internal finishing required.

Labour only. I am sourcing the bricks. Located on the Essex/Herts border just outside the M25.

£300 - £500 depending who is doing the grunt work.

The toothing out of the existing bricks can be very time consuming particularly if the masonry is made up with a nightmare combination of hard mortar and soft or brittle bricks.

Also the bricky will be looking at how the bricks will bond-in with the existing masonry, as it doesn't always work out as full bricks. There could be an awkward cut up the middle or header/three quarter up the middle.

Colour matching the mortar will be vital and may mean blending different sands, so there could be a bit of trial and error there.

Thanks. That's the sort of figure I was expecting so it was a bit of a shock when the first quote came back at £1,500

Here's hoping the remaining quotes are a bit more realistic

ETA; why is there no Thanks button on the forum
