can anyone translate this for me:
'form opening in 150mmx150mm C16 trimmers and doubled up rafters either side. Trimmers fitted to rafters with BAT joist hanger'

6" x 6" trimmers, wtf!

Sure its not 6" x 2" or maybe 6" x 4"(150mm x 50mm/150mm x 100mm).

A trimmer travels at 90 degrees to a joist/rafter, said joists/rafters need to be doubled.. i.e. an extra joist/rafter needs to be fixed next to it and any joists/rafters that rest on the trimmer need to be joined to said trimmer by means of a jiffy hanger type fixing, as does the trimmer to the joist/rafter.

Trimmed openings are for skylites as Noseall said or stair wells or chimney breasts, in fact anything that passes thru the timbers that is bigger than the standard spacing of said timbers/

Hope that helps :D
