Newbie Here...
I want to fix architrave around a patio door frame, a window and replace it on several internal door ways. I've seen to fix it 5-10 mm from the internal edge of the frame. That's fine... However, not one single frame is square.
There is no wooden frame around window or patio doors...it will be straight onto existing plaster.
Do I, a) fit the architrave square and true.... which may mean 0 gap at the top and a 10mm gap at the bottom of the original frame?
or
b) maintain the original frame shape and stick to the 5-10 mm guide?
All will be painted white, frame, plaster and architrave.
Roughly drawn images below should show what I mean. (My window and ledge is white, this was just picked as an example.)
Thank you for your time!

Do it nice, or do it twice!
