The problem is now that there is too much political capital invested in the climate change juggernaut for reality to step in, at least for the time being.

However, people will eventually realize that the rapid increase in energy prices (and consequent job-losses in industry) has been to absolutely no good purpose whatsoever.

It isn't so much that we've been conned, it's just that we've been led-on by governments kow-towing to the greens and other pressure groups.

Remember that Cameron said we will have 'hundreds of thousands' of jobs in the green industry? Well, where are they?

How does that work then joe if the climate is altering why should something that comes in a 50 yr or so cycle still happen.Its either altering or its not,we will get a winter that nature throws at us, mild or cold.

Weather tends to be cyclic. The shallow ice in the arctic will reflect more light/heat so we'll be getting a few cold winters, just like the early sixties. The coldest spring since records began (1962) the coldest spring since 1962 (2013). We're in for a big freeze.

Joe sounds like the green nuts - hedging his bets. It may be cyclical or it may be changing. How can a cycle change?? A changing cycle doesn't make sense.

If 'Er Indoors puts my smalls on a non-colour fast cottons cycle (those skiddies can run you know ) on the wash machine, the cycle runs through unchanged. The next time my shreddies go in on the same cycle, the machine doesn't decide to do a delicates cycle at 90 degrees with long, fast spin and a baking hot tumble. It cycles the wash exactly the same as the last time that cycle was selected.


Anyhow, I have bookmarked this topic for Joe's predictions. By April, whether or not the Thames has frozen and the country resembled an arctic tundra, he will either be a prophet or plonker. Watch this space!

What you lot are saying is that if the summer of 2013 is warmer than 2012 then that is proof of climate change.

Of course the climate is changing yesterday was fine and sunny today it ****ed down with rain,changes everyday.You mentioned similarities between now and the early 60's,in the autumn of 61 the Russians exploded the biggest ever man mad bomb the Tsar bomb,did this have a bearing with the other bombs exploded prior to this who know but if the supposed climate change of recent times is down to man activities then those events could have led to the cold winter of 62/63,but then that doesn't explain the severe winter of 1947.Extreme weather conditions happened before any climatologist tried understanding it and will continue to do so.

That's "weather" you are referring too, not climate.

Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.
