Are gods real?

I don't believe there are "Gods" however, if for those that do, it helps them with their lives, then crack on. I can see the social benefit of going to church to worship their imaginary friend, being there will be many like-minded worshippers all jollying along together.
Like going to the pub, but with a sip of wine and no beer.

Like the ones who murder infidels because their religion says so? There is no safe religion.
I don't believe I said religion is "safe" I merely pointed out I don't believe in God. I didn't say it was OK for those that do to wage Holy war in the name of a fictitious deity....

You said if it helps people with their lives they can crack on. I disagree, some are barbaric, that's all.

And there's no possible way that giving all moral responsibility over to your imaginary friend based on books from the Bronze age which frequently calls for the extermination of unbelievers could ever go wrong.
Unless you call it Religion and give it a place in Society then no.

Religions are barbaric, I don't trust any of them.
I am not sure that they re barbaric per se, more that those who strive to dominate others will exploit a weakness to achieve their aims.
Unfortunately religion has been a useful tool for that end.
It is slowly being replaced with political ideology.

No evidence that they wouldn't be barbarians without religious influence.
Yep seen them worshipping their cult leader...

I don't trust them as they all(?) rely on trusting rules handed down to you rather than thinking for yourself and taking responsibility for your own actions.

People have and will do anything if their God tells them it's right.

And they all have pretty sick rules. Man made nonsense.

It is slowly being replaced with political ideology.

But in America we can clearly see a growing tendency for religion becoming closer to government ("In God We Trust.") and a political idology like MAGA using that support to push a combined agenda against the wishes of a wide swathe of the population.
The growth of Nationalism and the rising power of science in the 19th century was meant to be a defining moment in switching off centuries of religious indoctrination but the ensuing wars of the 20th century have not banished it altogether: far from it. We're witnessing a trend of reverting to such belief in order to justify a new Ideology, especially within the far right, to combat the rise of Islamic extremism.
