Are these Slabs sandstone?

Hi Guys

Am i right in thinking that these slabs are sandstone?

Very difficult to tell from the pictures but it looks very similar to
my neighbours floors which are African slate..google some images of that and see what you think.

They look like sandstone, although limestone can look similar. If you have any spare bettery acid you can put a drop on and see if it fizzes. Fizz = lime.

Erm... you'd be better off using some cillit bang lime and grime - Geologists use dilute Hydrochloric acid to test for limestone - if it doesn't react try applying it hot/warm (dolomitic limestone)...if it still doesn't react then there's no limestone there.

As for that telling you if it's sandstone or not it won't as the two most common binding agents in sandstones are silica (no HCl reaction) or Calcium Carbonate (bubbles!).

I can't tell from the photos what it is but it doesn't look to me like a pure silica sandstone.
 
It's sandstone. Limestone is never supplied or laid in mixed colours like that. Clean it with a bleach type cleaner
