So if it's a Boris V Rishi, and it's looking like that, Rishi will win the MPs vote, and BJ won't withdraw.
Fact is the various pundits and news sources are imagining all sorts of situations. Boris supporters are making noises about him and some others are saying if he gets it they will resign. Last I heard about Boris was flying back from the Caribbean and so far hasn't put himself forward - yet if he does and some are wondering if they can stop him.
I accept he is a salesman and can win votes, but that's all he can do. Bluster.
The salesman that will say what ever to sell fits well but there are more accurate reported factors about him. He delegates and is very dependent on his advisors and offers little himself. He's a sort of rubber stamp in other words except the stamp is always used.
Much of Johnson's leadership was under a war footing, Brexit, Covid and the Ukraine war leading to the cost of living crisis, he handled it well.
Brexit got them their majority plus promises that now they may find rather hard to meet. Boris had a lot to do with selling it. My main beef with that is lack of grown up talk and the use of nationalism and xenophobia instead.
Covid is an example of something that can crop up that leaves little choice in terms of what had to be done. The enquiry will probably make some loud noises about factors where there was some choice.
Ukraine as far as Boris is concerned is an excellent situation for getting good press. He can jet about looking important. Anyone in power can do the same. The crisis this has bought on has several facets. One of these is down to how business runs the world - globalisation. It's highlighted a serious problem with it. The other effect of the crisis, "cost of living" is entirely predictable - all parties say the same thing. Subsidies power. No choice again. The variable on that is in the detail about how that is done. Truss had a brilliant idea didn't she but unfortunately country debt levels are not that simple.
Sunak. He had all that lovely money that used to go to the EU yet had to increase taxation levels even with help in that area due to rising prices. In the current situation he too would need to support people and think very carefully about areas like the triple lock. Sunak was also facing rising interest rate charges. A country can't have it's cake and eat it. It has to strike a balance some how. He probably was or getting a lot nearer to it.
So he goes for PM. Boris had clearly had it so why not. He made zero difference to that. Boris was in an unrecoverable position. LOL The fact that Sunak was prepared indicates he can think ahead.

Truss's approach was so stupid I wonder if it was a plot to try and get Boris back. No leader can just bring out numbers and ovoid providing the associated figures and get away with statements like I will totally ignore the treasury etc with the intent of borrowing.
Acually the Tory mantra is getting rather tired. We have had decades of it on and off and can anybody say that they have really improved the state of the country? In fact in this current session of them definitely not. Too many services are in crisis. There are other factors that don't look good as well.
