Hey guys,

I have an armoured cable that will supply power to shed eventually, but it's never been connected at either end - I just laid it under the patio before I installed.

I am now starting laying my foundation blocks, and figured I should think about what to do about this cable which needs to go under two new walls and then up into the newly created garage space where the fuse box is.

1. Can I run this armoured cable under the floor (that is yet to be built)?
2. If above is yes, where in the floor slab construction should it go? Under the hardcore?
3. When I bring the cable up through the floor to the fusebox, anything special I should do with it? Conduit, etc? How to manage the DPM?

Thanks all
Andy

Most would duct or sleeve the cable as it passes through the conc', though not essential.
Thanks Noseall. I have some 25mm pvc conduit I could use.

Is it ok under the hardcore, and can I just tape around conduit for the DPM?

You would protect the cable with soft sand as it meanders amongst the hardcore.

Yes. Whenever anything passes through the DPM, you 'repair' the incision as best you can with bits of poly and duct tape.

Awesome, thanks.

25mm conduit might be tight if it has any bends in. Not sure the cable you're using but if you use that twinwall duct you can curve it and pull the cable through in future.
If it's a fit and forget it's less important though.
