We have a victorian terraced house, (like many others) with thick artexing in most rooms. We have had a couple of plasterers in for quotes all saying different things.
It seems we have three choices.
1) Skim over the artex and remove the panels around the door frames as the present artex is butt up to the old door frames, plasterboard the ceilings and skim over. Potential problem could be that the plaster will fall off if the paint underneath has not bonded with the artexing??? - Is this right?
2) Plasterboard and skim loosing a lot of room in an already small house!
3) Chip everything away right back to the brick work and replaster again costing thousands.
Has anyone got any advice or suggestions?
