Atag IC36 & Hive Thermostat

You should be able to test the Hive unit in complete isolation.

Mount the hive back plate on a scrap of wood
run a 3 core cable to L, N (and optionally E) , other end of cable into plug with 3A fuse.
mount Hive on temporary setup.

You do need to be careful to avoid exposing any live wires during the checks. But in principle you can verify the Hive unit itself powers up. You can also simulate it in operation by setting a schedule, turning thermostat up/down, etc

That's how I bench tested my Drayton Wiser prior to live installation.

As RandomGrinch said there would be, there is another junction box. I need to investigate further but there appears to be a separate feed to this. Not yet quite sure what is doing what.

There is a separate Honeywell downstairs that controls some underfloor heating and I guess that one of the cables coming into the junction box is from that….
