Attaching batten to thermalite blocks

Hi,

I'm currently working on our bathroom and need to batten out a theramlite block wall. This is to level out the wall and also provide space for the plumber to run some hot and cold feeds for a wall mounted tap. The wall will eventually be backerboarded and then tiled.

I plan to attach the 25mm x 50mm battens to the wall using 65mm fischer duopower plugs. As this wall will be tiled, I just wanted to double check that this approach is suitable.

Sounds ok to me but I'm not a tiler or a builder. Having said that personally I would have channeled out the walls for the pipe work and dot and dabbed it.

Plugs are crap in AAC blocks.

Either add some suitable adhesive to every plug hole, or use helical bar nails.

Insulate the pipes.

Fischers are rubbish. You want some expanding plugs (brown) and take the drill off hammer and use a 6.5mm bit and do as Woods says with the adhesive supplement. Squirt some in, push your plug in, wind the screws in snug then tighten a wee bit more the next moring
