Hi,

I've just bought a new rad and need to attach the valves.

I presume I use PTFE tape but how far do I screw it in? Its got no washer so do I screw all the way in or use lots of PTFE tape and screw half way in?

Please help me coz I'm stuck!

Cheers,

Chris

wrap about 10-12 turns of ptfe tape round the thread, start at the valve end and go clockwise, tighten the valve right in and all should be well

Rad tails have tapered thread, and should get tighter the further you screw them in. Gas quality teflon tape is thicker, easier to work with, and seals better.

i have used gas ptfe tape for this if it is all i have (not the other way round!!) but must admit i have never had any problems sealing a rad tail with only plumbing ptfe tape.

Only tape i will buy is one wrap. dearer but far better and easier to use

I too never have any problem swith standard PTFE tape, provided you do 30 wraps things should be fine
