It would be unusual to have a mains supply that couldn't supply a decent flow at the top of the house.

Are there any houses further up the hill? If so, you'll almost certainly be OK.

If you wanted to, you could measure the mains pressure with a gauge - one bar is roughly equal to ten metres of water.

im not really at that stage yet. im currently finishing strengthening the floor joists, and getting velux installed. I know of a corgi installer to call upon when i need to. probably at end of Feb

what i was thinking is that if my galv tank is full of water, then the weight of that water in a 2 foot x 3 foot tank should force water up, if its only a 15mm copper pipe? but thats why im asking lol. im no expert. thanks for all the quick replies

law of communicating vessels; nothing to do with the weight of the water in the container

im end of a 5 house terrace. the mains supply comes off the road, around to the back of my house where it tees of to next door using 1/2" corroded galv piping. Welsh water replaced the valve off the mains, and about 4 foot of pipe with alkathene fittings which did help, but it could be better!

Your plumber will check and advise - being local he'll be in the best position to due to relevant experience.

Unfortunately it's not the weight of water but the pressure which is important, ie kg/cm2. The pressure is therefore determined by the difference in level between the water in the cold water supply tank and the taps. If the tank is below the tap the pressure will be negative, so no water will flow; it would have to be pumped.
