I have a rumbling MYSON pump that sounds like
it's about to explode. It's just over £42.00 plus Vat
so i am going to order one and fit it myself.[/b]

I looks like a simple job, it's fitted between a pair of
shut-off valves and the electric wiring looks very
straight forward, should i get some professional help
or is it as simple as it looks.

Any advice out there would be great.

Go for gunfoss 15/50 dearer but far better than myson which are one of the worst pumps out there.

you might find the valves are jammed and you have to drain down and fit new ones :(

Thanks for that, need to do something, it's a bit more than a rumble now!
Would you advise any specialist tools other than regular wrenches? The pump is in a very confined loft space, can it be done alone or would you advise two pairs of hands? Cheers

have you verified that it has plenty of water and no air?

loosen the screw in the middle and see if water dribbles out

bleed the highesr radiator in the house and see if water squirts out vigorously, even if it is higher than the pump

bleed everything to check for air.

OK then,

1. Undone nut (no screw) almost until it came out, seeping small amount of water, re-tightened all looks fine. :D

2. Have bled the highest radiator in the house, which is in the loftroom
at the same hight as the pump. No air. :)

3. Then I put the heating on to see if i needed pressure in the system
to make any difference whilst bleeding the radiator, and found that
the pump was not working at all, so out of cruiosity i tapped the pump
with my finger and it started working, but the noise was quite a rhythmic
galloping grind, and got slower on setting 3,2 and 1.

4. Finally while tapping for about the fourth time the whole front selecter
pannel fell off in my hand. (looks like it's glued in place)

So new pump ordedred and hopefully I will have it by Saturday.
