back boiler problems HELP!!!!!

I have a baxi back boiler in my home. Last night the boiler kicked in to heat the house but after a while the pipes started knocking and hissing. I checked them and they were red hot as were the radiators. I checked the radiators for trapped air but all was fine. I went into the loft to check the tank where the vent pipe goes into and there was steaming hot water in it. It seems that the boiler once in does not go out. Would this explain all of the above problems?? And is it likely that the thermostat has gone..... All help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a reasonable deduction! Try turning it up and down to see if it clicks, and you could try it with power off (or on!) with a meter.
