Hi all

I rent out a property with a baxi back boiler which has been turned off due to possible co2, and needs to be checked out and possibly serviced.

Finding it hard to get anyone out that will do back boilers, and wondered if anyone knew someone in Birmingham area that knows about them.

Thanks in advance

CO = Carbon monoxide
CO² = Carbon Dioxide

Quite a significant difference

Emitting CO or CO/CO² ratio

Probably be a standard 552. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone to do it but will maybe pay more. Has it been isolated via gas supply? Or just turned off and concern for safety left? Either way you need someone out to check it make sure you mention it's been turned off by grid so they are aware prior to asking 'how much is it for a service' would be my advice.

Can you post a copy of their paperwork?

If you start phoning and get knock backs, start to look at registration numbers, and phone those with 5 digits or less. Chances are they will be old school, and Back Boilers will not faze them.

BUT- Be completely open, and be prepared to explain why NG cut it off and to pay a fee for a visit even of it cannot be resurrected. Was it "Immediately Dangerous" OR "Cause for Concern"

ADL / 112: Do NG still use "Cause for Concern"?

EDIT: I was obviously typing as Cgas and Herts posted!

The grid will just turn it off if a tenant said fume or so, even there is no CO reading etc. Most of their engineers are not qualified with boilers.

W&W are brilliant round us, they don't just TOFO. No they're not qualified but they can test for CO in room. Most go above and beyond and alot are ex s&r so are not completely oblivious to boilers.

2nd EDIT: Just noticed it was "possible" CO, so maybe possibly just cigarette smoke etc, staining wall.
