Sorry, I was unclear - I meant that the rest of the house is wired to the 16th.
 
No problem. Design and construct your additions or alterations to the 16th or 17th edition and provide the relevant certificate.
Come July it'll be 17th only.
 
Just adding a couple of points for anyone who reads this before they do their kitchen...

Get 47mm single back boxes if you can, getting all those wires into a 35mm single was a right arse.

Check the fittings will take the cable! In theory the cheapo sockets from Screwfix should have taken 2x4mm cable, but I couldn't get them in. The DP switches had even smaller terminals, so in the end I gave up and swapped them for Crabtree ones.
