Indeed - and those human 'digestive processes' (and metabolic/excretory processes) are, of course, trying to make sure that as little as possible of those heavy metals from food and the environment remain in the body. The great majority of ingested/inhaled/absorbed lead (and probably most other heavy metals) ends up in either urine or faeces - hence in the sewage works.Sewage cake together with human digestive processes (apparently) concentrate the heavy metals present in our environment and food.
