Hi,

Building a detatched garage at the moment - foundation trench was filled with concrete and couple of courses of blocks/bricks have been laid.

Is it OK to backfill the trench to ground level with topsoil right up to the wall? Or is some kind of rainwater drainage system close to the wall advised to take water away from the wall?

Would appreciate some advice.

Thanks in advance.

For some reason no one wants to answer your question. Possibly it’s your user name?
If your brick footings are up to slab level, then backfill away. Don’t stamp fill down if your sub base is not in. Let it settle on own accord and top up later.
You do not need any drainage round perimeter.
