this is a question about mobile phones. It is not in any way about alarms or CCTV.

I have an HTC wildfire that is going back for repair. All data and settings will be lost.

I have used HTCsynch to the PC for the contacts and gallery; I have backed up the calendar to Googlemail. The phone has a removable mini SD card that I can take out before sending it.

I am particularly concerned about the WiFi passwords, which are not visible on the phone.

Is there a way I can back these up and restore them to the phone after repair?

Settings
Backup and reset
tick, backup my data
select the account - your gmail account for example

Now, whether it works or not, i don't know.

there is no "backup and reset" option in Setttings.

I have already stored Calendar, Contacts and Gallery (data)

But not Accounts, Settings and Passwords as I can't see a way to do it.

0845-890-0079.

Ask them.
Should be fun as they don`t have answers either.

Try a BB instead.

"Settings" has "Security" and "Personalize" but no "Privacy"

Neither of them seem to help

Android is 2.2.1

It is "Wildfire" not "Wildfire S"

Ah, I forget people still insist on not upgrading their OS. Also that HTC butcher it.

Keep looking through, it really should have a backup option.

That's entirely unhelpful of you.

Try looking under privacy settings. I really don't remember where it is on 2.3.

E: Yep, it's under privacy settings.

Here, have a manual: http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&topic=29927&answer=182077[/QUOTE]

Err JohnD says your assistance is of no help

I gave him the makers tech help line number.

So I retort, your contribution was useless.

AFAIK the software has updated itself, but is still on 2.2.1

btw thanks, but the .pdf manuals from that link are 404

p.s. AssAlarms, your assistance is of no help

Not for 2.3 they're not.

If HTC have removed the backup option, I'm not sure what you can do.

PS 0845-890-0079 Is their tech number I suppose if they cannot do it then it cannot be done :D

And the upgrade removes a fair bit of the phones memory. 2.2 to 2.3. Not the greatest idea.
