My 32" LCD television just went haywire. Think its just out of warranty. If it was one year. I came to my desk to go online to find a possible solution to my problem, turned on the lamp and that started to smoke! FFS can it get any worse?

best to get patches for the lamp, smoking is no good

I did ask the question a while back on which is more reliable, LCD or Plasma, and most seem too say LCD. We know one LCD gong down does not give a definative answer, but, for future reference, as i'm after a flat screen shortly, although i believe they don't do a 32" plasma?
Looks like extended warranty maybe the way too go.

The Sale of Goods Act and Consumer Direct are your friends: http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/know-your-rights/electrical/#named2 The 1 year warranty is irrelevant, ring 'em up and you'll see. They'll direct you every step of the way. I got a refund for a Hotpoint Fridge Freezer also out of warranty.
