bad smell

hi all i have a bad smell coming up through the shower waste there is no blockages in any of the other basins in the house,i very rarely use the shower but the smell is getting worse anyone have any probable cause or cure it is an old town house with the shower in the basement

Sounds like, the water in the trap of the shower waste has evaporated. This would allow the sewer smells to come up through the waste pipe into the shower. Try running water into the waste for a couple of minutes.
Another thing it could be is a leak in the waste trap, allowing the water to drain out of the trap. Check for leaks.

If shower is not used the water in the trap may be lost allowing sewer gasses to get in or the water may become putrid. Pour some diluted bleach into the shower trap from time to time to solve both possibilities.
