Guys i do appoligise if this is in the wrong forum page..heres my problem:

During September i had new exterior french doord fitted ( took out a window and replaced with said doors )
now i knew the roughcasting was a bit iffy and would need replacing in the summer...but i thaught id get the gutters and saufits replaced as they were past it.now 2 weeks ago the said gutters were replaced and now when it rains the water is comming in from the top of my french doors, not the doors themselfs but from between the outer and inner wall cavity... when its windy the water is bad.... i have removed the top door sill to have a look , thats how i know where the water is comming from...

We have had bad wind and rain before the new gutters were fitted and NO leaks....i have been up and had a look , now im missing one tile and a membrane , now am i being stupid here, should the gutter guy not have replaced the membrane and tell me there was a tile missing ,,?

Now he will not come back and fix the job...Aaargh ,
How can i stop the water comming in ????

It sounds like the water is spilling out the back of the gutter, past the wall plate and down the cavity? Is this a terrace house where you have trouble getting a 'fall'?

cheers Joe....the house is an end gable , Falling out with the mrs over this as the dinning room is freezing and ive put a quilt up to try stop the drafts, due to the top and bottom sill being removed ( the bottom sill had to be removed as it was hard wood with a puddle ontop of it gradualy seeping into it......now when i get a river, trust me it is that bad when it rains heavy i could have a shower under it .....the water pools at the bottom and runs down between the cavity walls at floor level...

But if the gutter has no fall eves trays won't help.

Can't agree there I'm afraid. With that amount of water it has to be the gutter.

cheers guys, im just dragging my heels with the mrs as i dont see why i should pay another guy to round up the first guys cattle ...... so im going to do it my self.

Limited info ...new gutters were fitted , i have a leak... water is running down under neath the saufits aswell as running down the inside between the inner and outer walls.... i have been up and had a look at John Waynes handywork...and noticed there is no membrain under the last row of tiles so the rain water can run into the gutter, also a missing tile..now im thinking the the rain water along with the wind is being pushed back and under the last row tiles and running down the cavity ....

so if i fit a new membrain and a rigid felt support and tile would that get me through the winter until i can get it sorted in the summer...

Op did you get new fascia fitted as well.[/quote]

yeh sorry im not sure on the correct names..but we got new fascia fitted (is that the box section that the gutters sit on ...)

The information is limited because we cannot see the problem or more to the point the cause of the problem.

As Joe said if the gutter has little or no run on it the rainwater can spill back and down the cavity.
The membrane and felt support trays are the 2nd line of defence after the roof covering, the missing tile should be replaced and any others broken or missing tiles up the roof.

Thats why i asked about the tile projection into the gutter.

Thanks Alastair.... im losing the plot with it...been going on for past 2 weeks and im at the end of a very short rope .....
silly Question but am i right in thinking its best to do the job in the rain...

i wouldnt bother doing it in the rain.

Put the tile in and check the gutter is draining and take it from there.
