We have one radiator that has just started making a loud banging noise, even though it's turned off all of the time. When we turn the thermostat valve a tiny bit the banging stops for a while but returns later. Turning the thermostat valve again stops the bangining problem again and on and on...
ANy ideas? Its been very cold recently, not sure if thats a factor.

Could it not be a chattering trv.Even off if the room temp drops it may attempt to open.Just a thought.

You have a non by-directional TRV fitted to the wrong end of the radiator. ;) ;)
