Barristers striking

So they can get community service instead of 10 years.
Or even just get a fair trial.

Nothing worse than not having a fair hearing. Once you lose that, anybody (especially those without money) can be locked up or worse, regardless of being guilty of not. Locked up without trial, anybody think that's a good idea ?

Freedom and fairness comes at a price.

When there's no question of guilt (caught ted handed or pleaded guilty) the legal representative acts only as a mediator to obtain the shortest sentence possible.
This is wrong imo.
Those animals that rape and kill people for their own amusement should be locked up for the longest time possible, not the shortest.

And once you go down that line where do you stop? Who decides the guilt or not?

Our system has a lot of faults, but if a fair trial is held it reduces the chances of locking innocent people up. Everybody is entitled to that hearing, even if you lock them up and throw away the key afterwards.

no problem with them being proved guilty.

once you start deciding who gets a trial and who doesn't it becomes a very slippery slope.

be careful what you wish for

No slippery slope with them
100% guilty

So why waste time and money on them

To give some barrister and other legal scheisters a pay check ?

It may be wasted on them, if you look at any 1 case individually.

What if somebody in authority decides you are guilty and locks you up? No questions asked, you are guilty!

Freedom and democracy come at a price, but it's better than justice being handled by any person or people chosen to decide it.

For all its faults I believe in a fair trial for all

Isn't enshrined in the Magna Carta?

What rights are enshrined in Magna Carta?

Magna Carta
  • No new taxes unless a common counsel agrees.
  • All free men have the right to justice and a fair trial with a jury.
  • The Monarch doesn't have absolute power. The Law is above all men and applies to everyone equally.
  • All free citizens can own and inherit property.
  • Widows who own property don't have to remarry.

I like the last one.

All
Cases are or should be looked at on an individual basis

An individual
Case of 2 blokes on video beheading some one in a public street with witnesses around

And the point of wasting legal reorensentation expenses on them is what ?

It's not wasted though is it.

It is upholding your own personal freedom

Yes pay me a decent salary and I will
So if there's witnesses then there shouldn't be any right to a defense?

Or if you want a really depressing read:
