Bath mixer tap handle will not budge

Hi guys,

I’ve got a pair of fairly basic bath mixer taps. The hot tap has developed a slow but constant drip, so I was planning to change the tap gland/washer rather than replace the taps completely.

I’ve removed the centre screw from the hot tap handle, but the handle itself will not move at all. I’ve tried WD-40, firm hand pressure, controlled brute force, and even a gentle tap with a hammer — it will not budge in the slightest.

Before I go any further, are there certain mixer tap handles that are non-removable or fixed onto the spindle? Or is this likely just seized solid?

I’m trying to avoid changing the whole tap set as access is very tight and the bath panel is fully sealed in, so replacement would turn into a much bigger job.

Any advice appreciated.

Pop the red cap and find screw inside or Allen key/screw around the back through hole.

Those taps will be a quarter turn ceramic so you will have to order the correct one online.
Unlikely to find one local as so many sorts.

Masking tape around handle, then with a wooden hammer, smack it off when you have removed screw
